Jeremy

Research Officer

Jeremy is an advocate who raises awareness for public health issues. He holds a master’s degree in public health from Kyoto University and master’s degree in food safety from National Taiwan University. After studying overseas for 7 years, he decided to permanently return to Malaysia to contribute to his motherland. The flight announcement, “To all Malaysians, welcome home,” still echoes in his mind until today.

He commenced his career in Malaysia by joining a research team that collaborates with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to develop a blueprint for the National Health Literacy Policy framework. During his work, he received feedback from stakeholders and the community who believed that these policies were mere paperwork and would never materialize. This realization led him to conclude that he should work with policymakers to keep the momentum going.

Consequently, he joined the Petaling Jaya parliamentary team, where he immersed himself in learning about policy implementation and collaborated directly with the community to make a social impact.

“Go big, or go home” is his motto, and he hopes to transform from being nobody to somebody in the future.

I am very interested in the world of politics. The public policy aspects, the legislative aspects and the ideological aspects. My interested towards politics grew through reading books from political philosophers of the past such as Aristotle, Niccolo Machiavelli, Karl Marx and Thomas Hobbes to name a few..

Besides crunching numbers in my daily life as an ICAEW student, I am passionate about politics and public policy, especially social issues and geopolitical affairs. My interest has always been to learn and understand how this country’s political system actually cycles.

Apart from that, I’m also interested in journalism. It was my pleasure to be able to publish a few journals for Bichara Malaya, an independent student newspaper at Universiti Malaya. A lot of my work revolves around issues related to student autonomy, politics, and social justice.

As I am still learning so much about politics, I look forward to gaining lots of experience. This is a quote I believe in: “There’s still much to do; still so much to learn. Mr. La Forge – engage!” – Captain Picard

I am graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours degree and successfully completing my bar exam. Currently, I’m embarking on a fascinating journey as a political intern, immersing myself in the dynamic world of politic. As an intern, I’m gaining invaluable insights into the intersection of law and governance.
From observing policy-making processes to understanding the legal implications of political decisions, I’m passionate about bringing the gap between these two influential spheres. In addition to my internship, I’m also pursuing a Master of Law degree, further enrinching my understanding of legal theory and practice. As I continue my journey, I am enthusiastic about exploring the synergies between law and politics, with a keen eye on creating positive impacts.
